Food Not Bombs
Summary
Food Not Bombs is a decentralized, grassroots movement of that provide free vegan meals, free groceries to take home, and related educational materials.
Food Not Bombs chapters act on three core principles:
- Distribute free vegan or vegetarian food
- Each chapter is autonomous and makes decisions using the consensus decision model.
- IS NOT a charity, and IS dedicated to nonviolent social change.
The movement is often suppressed by those seeking authoritarian control over society. Despite that, they continue to grow globally. They also work in coalition with others, such as Earth First!, The Leonard Peltier Defense Committee, Anarchist Black Cross, the IWW, Homes Not Jails, Anti Racist Action, Farm Animal Rights Movement, In Defense of Animals, the Free Radio Movement and other organizations on the cutting edge of positive social change and resistance to the new global austerity program.
Food Not Bombs is preparing for the economic crash by organizing “Food Not Lawns” community gardens, housing the homeless with “Homes Not Jails”, and organizing additional meals each week while starting new Food Not Bombs chapters in as many communities as possible.
